Detroit Tigers’ Torii Hunter hits 300th home run

MINNEAPOLIS — Torii Hunter has hit three home runs for the Detroit Tigers. He has hit 300 in his career. Hunter hit a two-run home run in the first inning Sunday afternoon for his 300th career home run.

Hunter hit his first career home run April 15, 1999, while playing for the Twins in Tiger Stadium. On Sunday, he hit home run No. 300 while playing for the Tigers at Target Field. Hunter hit a 2-0 fastball from Twins starter P.J. Walters over the wall in left field.

Hunter hit 192 home runs in 11 seasons with the Twins and 105 home runs with the Los Angeles Angels before signing with the Tigers in the offseason.

The home run gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead in their series finale against the Twins.
